Secondary School Swimming Gala

This year’s Secondary Inter-House Swimming Gala was held on Thursday the 24th October. It was a special occasion which marked Zambia’s 55 years of Independence.

We opened our gala with the grueling 100m individual medleys. This was an open event and special mention should be made of two Form 1 Girls, Hannah Falcone and Chimwemewe Nachinga, who honourably competed for their houses. As the morning progressed, the pool welcomed more and more swimmers displaying great talent and enthusiasm. Several records were broken and some swimmers achieved new personal bests.

Many war cries were chanted across the pool with houses going to great lengths to try and win bonus points for their team spirit. Races were close and the points were tight. Eventually, the time came to wrap up the gala and our technical table worked hard to tally the scores whilst we finished with our famous ‘Squadron Relay’.

This year Kaimbi were placed 3rd with 125 points, Ndale came 2nd with 204 points and Mukwa stole the victory for 2019 with 205 points – only one point ahead of Ndale!
Congratulations to Mukwa and well done to all our swimmers.
