During the August holidays, 17 Chengelo students and three members of staff travelled to Thailand for a mission trip, stepping beyond the familiar to serve, learn and share their faith.
Over two weeks, our students experienced cross-cultural ministry in many different forms — from visiting slum communities and praying with those who were sick, to spending time with elderly people and helping with practical work on their farm. They used football to build relationships and share their faith, visited Thai schools and engaged with local students, and took part in a prayer walk through Bangkok, praying for the city and its people.
Along the way, they encountered a new language, unfamiliar foods, different customs and religious practices, and a completely different way of life. They navigated Bangkok’s MRT underground railway and BTS Skytrain, explored a new culture and, perhaps most importantly, learned to step outside their comfort zones.
This was about so much more than seeing a new country. It was about compassion, humility, service and sharing the Gospel — and discovering that our calling to be witnesses to the Light of Christ extends far beyond our own community.
We are incredibly proud of our students and the way they embraced every opportunity to serve, learn and shine their light.
