Today, with heavy hearts, we honour the life of Paul Vines — a much-loved former Principal, teacher, mentor, and friend of Chengelo.
Paul served Chengelo with unwavering dedication, investing deeply in the lives of countless students and staff over many years. Whether in the classroom teaching French, leading the school as Principal, or simply taking time to encourage those around him, Paul’s influence reached far beyond the walls of the school.
He was a man of deep faith, quiet strength, genuine warmth, and remarkable compassion. Those who had the privilege of being taught by him, working alongside him, or being guided by his leadership will carry something of his wisdom, kindness, and example with them always.
Throughout his recent illness, Paul demonstrated extraordinary courage and grace, sustained by a steadfast faith that inspired all who journeyed alongside him. While we grieve his passing, we take comfort in knowing that he is now at peace with his Lord and Saviour.
Chengelo is richer because Paul was part of our story. His legacy lives on in the lives he shaped, the community he helped build, and the values he faithfully modelled.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Julie, their three daughters, and all who loved him during this difficult time. The family is taking time and space to grieve together and are limiting visitors for now. In keeping with their wishes, there is no need for flowers or gifts. For those who would like to support Julie and the girls in a practical way, a GoFundMe page (link below) has been established to help create special family moments and meaningful experiences in the weeks ahead.
“Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his faithful servants.” — Psalm 116:15
Thank you Paul, for your faithful service, your leadership, your friendship, and your love for this community. You will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
