Student Leadership

Our Student Leadership along with their prefect team play an incredibly critical role in the smooth running of the school and in setting a good example for younger students to follow. We are very proud to introduce our Student Leadership team for 2018. Find out more about them below:

Stephanie Nyambe

Head Girl
Hi, my name is Stephanie. I'm currently in Upper Sixth Form studying Design and Technology, Mathematics and Computer Science. I've been at Chengelo for 14 years (starting from pre-school) and really love what the school stands for as well as the vision behind it. I enjoy playing team sports such as netball and hockey and individual sports such as cross country. I have been on the netball, hockey and cross country school teams. I am also a huge fan of adventure racing and have been on the school's adventure racing team for two years. All these sports have helped me build up endurance and team skills by learning how to work with people in all sorts of situations. In my free time I love to read novels (a lot!), paint or draw. This year, I would like to be an example for the younger students and I would like them to see Christ through me and try to inspire them to be more Christ-like through my behavior. Our vision as a prefect team is to bring the whole school together, members of staff included, as one big family in a spirit of love and togetherness. I am really excited to participate in the activities the prefects team have lined up for this year in order to achieve that vision. I hope to go to Harper Adams, which is an Agricultural university in England, to study Agricultural Engineering. I am really excited about the course because I have a great passion for agriculture. When I am done with my studies I plan to channel this passion and interest into taking Zambia a step forward in its development through agriculture.

Kabwela Kabwela

Head Boy
Hi, my name is Kabwela. I’m currently studying Business, Psychology and DT at Chengelo Sixth Form. I love sports and have consequently taken on the role of Sports Prefect this year. I’m really excited about the year ahead, particularly about the new structure which has been developed that divides the prefect team into groups which function in particular areas of school life. I am privileged to be Head Boy and grateful to be working with a mature and forward-thinking prefect team. I would like to study Business Management and Finance, at the EU Business School in Spain. Studying there would provide the opportunity to pursue my business career as well as develop my other passion - football. One day, I hope to be a successful entrepreneur.

Meebelo Malama

Deputy Head Girl
My name is Meebelo Malama and I’m currently completing A levels in Mathematics, English, Business and History. Alongside being Deputy Head Girl, I am the Kaimbi House Captain and the chairperson for the Christian youth group, Christians in Action (CIA). I have spent nearly seven years at Chengelo. I enjoy participating in drama productions, reading books by African authors such as Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Chinua Achebe, Binwell Sinyangwe and Buchi Omecheta. When I was in Form 5, I was appointed Chief Librarian and this allowed me to explore the world of literature an gain and appreciation of the African classics. After Sixth form, I plan to read Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE). It is an inter-disciplinary course that focuses on all three subjects. I am particularly drawn to PPE because it is designed for aspiring leaders – for individuals who want to make changes to modern-day society. In addition, I am drawn to its complexity and how the three subjects depend on each other. I hope that one day I will serve this nation in the effort to overcome our past and present struggles, with God at the centre.

Chapukwa Sisya

Deputy Head Boy
Hi, my name is Chapukwa Sisya. I am in my second year of A-levels studying Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics and Computer Science. I hope to study Computer Engineering at Queen's University in Canada. I have been at Chengelo for 6 years. I enjoy new experiences, problem solving and understanding how things work. These interests are what led to me to develop my interest in computing. I also enjoy a variety of sports such as Soccer, Hockey, Volleyball and Rugby. As Deputy Head Boy, I hope to make an impact on the students within the school as well as the community. I am grateful to be working with such an inspiring prefect team and look forward to seeing each one flourish in their roles. Together we hope to unite the school and connect with the communities around us.
